This is such a huge part of the conversation that gets left out of the anti-diet conversation. I have had some really helpful conversations about this on my podcast in hopes that more people will recognize that it's about more than feeling good in your body or accepting your body. For some people, weight truly does impact their safety and health in our biased world.

Such great points, Jessica! I agree that more conversations are needed about the impact of bias on our safety and health. I just subscribed and am looking forward to hearing more on your podcast. :-)

Your points seem especially relevant and important in the field of orthopedic medicine, where—in my personal and ongoing experience—BMI is used as a gatekeeper and where weight can negatively influence a person’s ability to receive care AND recover with ease.

Thank you so much! I agree 💯% on your points about care and recovery. It is infuriating that BMI is being used to prevent patients from receiving equitable care.
